Sarah Decontie

Kwey! (Hello!)

My name is Sarah Decontie and I am a member of the Algonquin First Nation of Kitigan Zibi, QC. I currently work for the Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg nation in the finance department, specifically accounts payable. Before I began working for my community, I was asked to join the Odyssey Showcase family as the Hoop Dancer for the Canada Roars production for three seasons. I was then humbled when asked to be part of the Canada Speaks production where my knowledge of the Algonquin language, prayer, and dance could all be demonstrated to thousands of Educators, students and members of the public.

As an advisory board member for Odyssey Showcase, it is my honour to represent the Algonquin First Nation of this beautiful territory and to make sure that my knowledge is passed down to the future generations.

Odyssey Showcase acknowledges that the land on which we gather in Ottawa is the traditional unceded territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabe people who have lived on this land since time immemorial.

Odyssey Showcase gratefully acknowledges the support of our funding partners.
