From its African and Gospel roots to modern day expressions including the arrival and influence of Jazz in Canada, this production is a celebration of the profound impact of Black history and culture on music.<\/p>
It has been an annual highlight of Black History Month in Ottawa since 2016. It evolved out of our productions on the history of jazz and our tribute to the women of jazz \u201cSatin Dolls\u201d. These shows have been performed at venues ranging from the Ottawa International Jazz Festival to many sold out performances at the National Gallery of Canada and the National Arts Centre Fourth Stage.<\/p>
This presentation celebrates the courage, determination, grace and unrelenting spirit of men and women who overcame incredible challenges and reflects the history, impact and contributions of these performers on the world of jazz.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
